The current exhibition at Haus der Photographie is showing the work of the couple Ute and Werner Mahler. Their photos show various subjects including scenes of DDR as well as nature.
My personal highlight is the series "Mona Lisen der Vorstädte" (Mona Lisas of the suburbs) by both of them. They travelled through Europe with a large format camera and told girls to pose like they had Mona Lisa in mind, as students of Ute Mahler told me. This is why the position of some girls' hands look so odd.
I got interviewed about the exhibiton by these students too and had a chat with them about analogue photography later on which was vera nice!
The museum also got a great shop for photography books. If you're in Hamburg you should definitely visit the exhibition (you still got time until the 29.6.) and see the great architecture of the Deichtorhallen!
